Champions Eye end season in style
Champions Eye Saints Eagles Under-13s capped off a memorable season with a comprehensive 6-1 win away at Ipswich Athletic Whites.
With confidence high having sealed the title a week previously, Saints started brightly and opened the scoring through Sebastian Marsh-Fiely with his first goal of the season.
Barney Weiss added a second shortly after before Athletic pulled a goal back before the interval.
However, it was to prove only a consolation as Saints regained control with Harry Maguire and Thomas Schram causing havoc.
And with a foothold on the game, Saints eased to the three points with two further goals apiece from Jacob Ready and Marsh-Filey.
Adrian Moye from the South Suffolk Youth League presented Saints with the league trophy and medals after the match.
n Scole United Under-15s came out on top of a hard fought encounter at Sheringham to secure a narrow 2-1 win.
Scole went ahead midway through the first period through Lawrence Brown’s cross-come shot, before the home side levelled through their own good luck as the ball struck the post direct from a corner kick and ricocheted into the net off of a Sheringham player.
The visitors had a goal ruled midway through the second half before they did strike the decisive blow as Owen Paige headed home Ryan Scammell’s cross.
n Elsewhere, Diss Hawks Under-13s endured a mixed weekend with differing fortunes over two matches.
The first encounter saw them come out on top of a five-goal thriller with Lakenheath to win 3-2 courtesy of goals from Max Bowen, Nathan Faulkner and Isaac Nunn.
However, there was less success in their second match against Watton as they came out on the wrong side of the same scoreline losing 3-2. Oliver Hunt and Nathan Channell got on the score sheet for Diss.
