Captain’s day helps raise money for worthy cause

Diss Golf Club helped to raise £1,206 for Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting this year’s Captain’s Day competition.

The men’s winner on the day was Steven Rolingson, with an excellent 41 points in the Stableford competition closely followed by Archie Moore on 40 points.

The ladies winner was Jane Izod, also with 40 points, winning a tight duel with Kelly Saunders on 39 points.

Nearest the pin prizes were awarded to James Biggs (seventh hole), Stewart Rolingson (12th) and Kerry Enever (15th). Driving prizes went to Charlie Taylor and Jane Izod.

Meanwhile, a host of the club’s members also took part in the Hillside Classic, a Stableford competition played over 18 holes.

The winners on the day were Marie Needham, with 39 points taking the ladies prize, and John Doe, with a very commendable 43 points.

Adrian Wattam took second place with 40 points, followed by Ivan Gotts on 39 points.
