Captain and Cokeley guide Diss to victory

Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers 180-8 lost to Diss 183-4 by six wickets

Diss avoided an upset in the last eight of the Naco Cup as they recorded a routine win against Ashmanhaugh on Sunday.

The highlight of the innings for Diss centred around 14-year-old debutante Anoushka Williamson.

She bowled eight overs and ended the innings with figures of 2-32, which helped to restrict Ashmanhaugh to 180-8 from their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, Simon Cooper fell LBW for one, before Liam Brown was cleaned up by a shooter for just a single.

This brought the in-form Robert Tooke to the crease, with opener Douglas Young still there.

Yet, when they both fell, Diss found themselves on 55-4.

However, it was the combination of captain Mark Williamson and David Cokeley that got Diss home with a partnership that was worth an unbeaten 128 runs.

Cokeley finished on 62 not out, with Williamson 10 runs further back.
