Mendham darts ace Peter Wright set up a Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Championship quarter-final against fourth seed Gary Anderson on New Year’s Day.

Wright, the runner-up of the last World Championship, dominated 12th seed Andy Hamilton to whitewash him 4-0.

The fifth seed from Suffolk charged out of the blocks and averaged 110 as he stormed to the first set by three legs to one before capitalising on Hamilton missing two darts for the second set to hit double 16 and move into a 2-0 advantage.

He continued his dominance into the third by taking out 94 to move 2-0 in the set before wrapping it up without reply.

Although Hamilton stopped the rot in the first leg of the fourth, Wright produced the highest finish of the match (104) to level the set up.

His fifth 180 of the match moved him 2-1 clear and he completed his 4-0 demolition with an average of 102.6.
