Action aplenty on Finals Day

A great day of tennis was enjoyed by all at the annual Wortham Lawn Tennis Club Finals Day on Sunday.

Twelve finals were played on the day of all age groups and disciplines, ranging from the Under-8 singles to the veterans’ mixed doubles, all of which were rich in quality.

The highlights of the day included a two-and-a-half hour epic in the veterans’ mixed final won by Isobel Hunter and Neil Warmisham 2-6 6-3 7-5 over Sarah Martin and Rob Bawden.

A tight 10 and under singles final saw Julian Parsell battle through the rain to win 4-2 4-5 10-8 against a spirited Holly Brice.

And finally, a high quality mens singles final saw Sam Brett show his pedigree as he overcame Tom Flatman in straight sets winning 6-1 6-2 to seal victory.
