Banham Zoo announces Kash and Kumi as names of Amur tiger cubs

Banham Zoo has revealed the names of its two male Amur tiger cubs following a naming competition.

Kash and Kumi have been confirmed as the chosen names after members of the public were able to give a donation and leave a comment with their suggestions.

The news comes after the zoo announced the death of one of its three new tiger cubs in May.

Over £670 was raised through the competition with the donations directly contributing towards the care and well-being of Banham Zoo’s animals.

Following their birth on May 1, the two brothers have grown under the watchful eye of mum Mishka over the past nine weeks.

In a statement on social media, the zoo said: “Introducing brothers Kash and Kumi.”

“Thank you to everyone who entered our cub naming competition, helping us raise a total of £674. All funds raised go towards the care of our animals, alongside conservation efforts to help protect the future of species such as the Amur tiger.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate International Tiger Day, and we hope you enjoy watching cubs Kash and Kumi grow over the summer.”
