Okay, so maybe there is a 100lb catfish living in Diss Mere, but why oh why, because it is big, does someone think they have the right to catch it?
The Mere is big and deep enough for it to live out its life happily and by all accounts, the carp on which it feeds are not diminishing and, in fact, getting larger, so what’s the problem?
Whether it is a non-native invasive species or not, there appears to be only one, so it is unlikely to breed. What is wrong with these fishermen, you’ve got your crucian carp, leave this lovely catfish alone.
And by the way, just as importantly, how much money is the town council going to spend on trying to catch it, I wonder.
