Young farmer launches The Little Corner Pet Shop in Castle Street, Eye
A young farmer has fulfilled her dream by opening her own pet food shop.
Rose Howes has launched The Little Corner Pet Shop in Castle Street, Eye.
The 28-year-old was so pleased by its success, she is already planning a second one.
“The reaction has been great from people as there wasn’t a pet shop in the town until now,” said Rose.
“It was really busy on our opening day and it has stayed steady ever since, which is really pleasing.
“I have always dreamed of running a pet shop and it’s been exciting to open it.
“When all the stock arrived in boxes, it was like Christmas.
“Although there is a lot to learn running a retail business, I’m really enjoying it so far.
“I’m actually seeing another property in Elmswell early next month and, although I don’t know if I will take it yet, it would be great to have two shops.
“I’d definitely like to open a second one within the next year.”
The Little Corner Pet Shop sells food for all animals, as well as accessories.
Rose said: “I have food for all kinds of pets, including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and feed for chickens.
“It a small shop so everything is neatly stored and I have some local suppliers, too.
“These include Skinners and Fourthglade dog food.
“We also have a range of accessories, including collars, leads, coats and carriers, and all kinds of things. And, of course, there are also lots of treats and toys, too.”
Rose, who runs Haywood Hall Farm in Diss with her partner, Scott, will be working at the shop full-time.
Rose said: “We have 100 sheep on the farm, as well as cows, and Scott will mainly be running that, while I look after the shop. It’s exciting.”
Rose has three dogs and two cats herself. “I’ve always loved animals so it’s great to finally fulfil my dream, she added.
“People are welcome to come in and have a browse.”
The Little Corner Pet Shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday, between 9am and 6pm, and on Sundays, between 10am and 4pm.
