Woman in her 80s dies in collision on A1066, between Thetford and Diss




A pensioner has died following a single-car collision which saw a road closed for more than five hours yesterday.

Police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance were called to the incident on the A1066 at Shadwell, between Diss and Thetford, at 11.41am, where a silver Honda CR-V left the road and went into a ditch.

The road was closed in both directions whilst emergency services attended the scene, which included the fire service using hydraulic rescue equipment to release the occupants of the car.

The front passenger, a woman in her 80s, died at the scene.

The driver, a man also in his 80s and the rear passenger, a woman in her 20s, both suffered minor injuries.

The road was reopened at 5.30pm yesterday.

Officers are appealing for witnesses of the collision or anyone with any relevant dashcam footage.
