A witness appeal was launched after a burglar was thwarted following a break-in at an Eye home last week.

The incident took place at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 3, when the occupants of a property in Cranley Road discovered a man in the boot room, after investigating a noise at the rear of the house.

The offender then ran away, pursued by one of the occupants. He was not found, although nothing was stolen during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’10” in height, wearing a black bomber-style jacket, dark trousers and a dark-coloured beanie hat rolled up above his ears.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information about this crime, is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID on 101, quoting reference 15775/16, or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
