Cee-Cee’s Wine, Charcuterie and Catering opens in Norfolk House Yard, Diss
A caterer with a passion for food has started a new business, with a focus on enjoying a shared experience in a relaxed environment.
Cee-Cee’s Wine, Charcuterie and Catering in Norfolk House Yard in Diss opened last Monday as the brainchild of Chelsi Thomas, from Harleston.
The idea for the 14-seater venue – named in homage to what her parents called her as a baby – came about through the 37-year-old’s love of hospitality.
“I catered for this year’s Muddy Stilettos awards night at Chet Valley Vineyard in Bergh Apton and really enjoyed it,” she said.
“So I branched out to freelance catering through the summer, doing pop-up events serving wine and charcuterie cups, and I thought ‘why not do this full-time as there is no-one else around here doing it’.
“I’ve been to pubs and found it hard to socialise because of the noise, so I wanted to make a place where you could meet over a picky platter and a nice glass of wine.”
The food boards on offer include a build-your-own menu, where diners can pick what they want, as well as set options and a ‘motherboard’, which comes with everything on it.
Among the specials is a butter board, which has homemade garlic butter, whipped feta and cream cheese and chives.
“I don’t want Cee-Cee’s just to be a place where people eat and have wine,” said Miss Thomas. “I want it to be a sociable place where those who come in have a relaxed time and enjoy the whole experience.”
Community is also important to the owner, with the site is acting as a drop-off point for Waveney Foodbank, while it has already hosted bauble painting events and meet-up Mondays since opening.
She added: “I want to do these events to get people meeting new people and I want to help the foodbank as much as I can as well.
“I want to thank everyone for their support so far. The feedback has been phenomenal and it means so much to me as a new business owner, so thank you.”
