The Corn Hall in Diss - what's on in the coming weeks
Arsenic & Old Lace, November 12
Roughcast theatre production company has taken a break from a run of Shakespeare renditions to bring you this production of Joseph Kesselring’s hilarious black comedy at the Corn Hall in Diss.
In this famous and much-loved farce, a young drama critic’s life is turned upside down when he discovers that his two adorable, and well-meaning, spinster aunts, have taken to putting their gentlemen house guests out of their misery with poison and burying the bodies in the cellar as a public service of sorts.
This production will provide almost two-and-a-half hours of fun, and tickets will cost £12 per person, with students paying half price.
Eliza Carthy and The Restitution
Outstanding English folk musician Eliza Carthy MBE will be joined by her band The Restitution at the Corn Hall on November 24 to showcase some of their latest work in what has been a 30-year music career.
To mark this significant milestone, she will be releasing a new album, Queen Of The Whirl, and playing a live concert, featuring rerecordings of some of her greatest hits and audience favourites from the past 30 years, including songs from her three Mercury Award-nominated albums.
Eliza turned pro in 1992 and, since then, has toured all over the world, from Ghana, across the Prairies, the Alps, and the waters of Lake Titicaca, all to play the fiddle and spread the word of English traditional music.
The Nosy Little Troll, November 19
Free-flowing family fun aimed at three to eight year olds is coming to the Corn Hall on November 19, bringing a perfect day for fun and laughs with the children or grandchildren, brought to you by Garlic Theatre.
Deep in the heart of the Norwegian forest live the trolls – big trolls, tiny trolls and Nosy Little Troll, who has an amazingly sensitive nose.
In this light-hearted hour-long story, the Nosy Little Troll sets off on a magical quest to solve a mysterious and powerful pong in this Scandinavian classic, starring a very tasty brown cheese song, a lost goat and a bushy old troll with surprisingly green fingers.
Norden Farm commented on the show: “Garlic are, as always, right on top of their game – you rock.”
Tickets cost £22 for a family, or £7 for adults and £5 for children.
