Natalie Dorey, who lost four stone, becomes consultant for Long Stratton Slimming World group
A slimmer, who transformed her life by losing four stone, is using her success to shape a new career aimed at helping others achieve their weight loss dreams.
Natalie Dorey, from Mulbarton, is a consultant at Long Stratton’s Slimming World group.
The mum-of-two said her weight loss journey began when she was pregnant.
She said: “I had hypertension and gestational diabetes. I had tried so many different ways to lose weight, but I had always got tired of restricting what I ate. I thought I was destined to struggle with my weight for the rest of my life.”
But then Miss Dorey was told about Slimming World from a relative and she joined the group in Mulbarton in October 2023.
Six months later, she had gone from 14st 3lbs to 10st 3lbs.
“The group was just so supportive,” she said. “Our consultant was so inspirational about food and losing weight that you really felt like you were all in it together.”
Having fought her own weight loss battle and won, the 34-year-old is feeling like a new woman.
“After losing two stone, I started running again – and it was only then that I realised how much I had missed it,” she said.
“With my family, I am the one who now suggests going for a walk.”
This prompted her to train and qualify as a consultant at Slimming World’s national training academy.
“As someone who has lost weight, I know the challenges and how important group support is,” she said. “I would never have got to my target weight without the group and my consultant, who was there for us all every step of the way. I want to do the same for my group.”
The Long Stratton group meets at the town pavilion on Thursday evenings, at 5.30pm and 7pm.
