Villagers pinch themselves after sharing £240,000 payout

A group of Garboldisham residents were overjoyed to win a share of £240,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Six people took home £30,000 each, while a seventh went one better and doubled their prize to £60,000 by playing with two tickets, after their postcode was announced on Saturday.

One of the £30,000 winners, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It hasn’t really sunk in yet.

“I’m not working at the moment, so I will use the money to do up my garden.

“A silver lining of being at home and having nice weather is being able to potter around outside.

“We’re going through rubbish times just now, so it’s nice to have this.”

Due to the current restrictions, the winners did not have their cheques presented to them in person.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador and TV personality Jeff Brazier said: “A big congratulations to all of the winners in Garboldisham.

“While I wasn’t able to present them with their cheques in person, I’m sure they will enjoy the prize money when it lands in their bank accounts.”
