Gissing set to come alive as classic car event, open gardens and beer festival get under way tomorrow
More than 70 vehicles classic cars are set to roll into a village tomorrow for an annual event.
The Gissing Classic Car Event includes a 1935 Riley Lynx Tourer, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, a 1937 Austin Convertible, a Vintage traitor and vintage stationary engine, amongst many others.
It also coincides with the village’s open gardens event and a beer festival in the Gissing Crown.
Frances King, from the events team, said: “In the last two years, the picturesque village of Gissing has hosted two very successful classic car events.
“This year’s looks set to be even more popular than ever, with dozens of fascinating vehicles signed up.
“This year, it will run in conjunction with an Open Gardens Event, something the village has also had great success with in previous years, and as well as the classic car fans, large numbers of gardening enthusiasts are expected.
“There will also be a garden jumble stall and craft and plant sales in and around the award-winning Community Building where refreshments will be served and an outdoor BBQ.
“The Gissing Crown pub next door will be hosting a beer festival.”
A guide to where the gardens are located will be available and visitors will have the chance to take part in a raffle for The Gardner’s Reward, a wheelbarrow full of treats.
Gissing’s special Sunday runs from 11am to 4pm and tickets are £5, with children going free.
The village is accessible from Diss, Norwich and Bury St Edmunds and the car park and community building are signposted within the village.
They are situated in the heart of a conservation area which includes a 12th century church, a traditional pub and a Victorian school.
