Bunwell Street in Bunwell not set to reopen fully until December to fix historic flood issues
An 11-week closure to a section of village road to address historical flooding issues has now doubled to finish the job.
Bunwell Street in Bunwell was temporarily closed to traffic between its junction with Mile Road and Hall Road to its junction with North Road from July 15.
The original expected reopening of the road, which is to have a new drainage system constructed, was expected to be tomorrow – but now will not reopen until December 6.
A Norfolk Highways spokesperson, said: “As you may already be aware the drainage works that began on Monday, July 15, experienced some stoppages due to unforeseen utility clashes and the need for additional trial holes to be excavated for further investigation during the ongoing scheme.
“A programme review with our contractor has determined that the temporary road closure will need to be extended by an additional 10 weeks, weather permitting and assuming no further unknown utility clashes.”
