Victory for Diss toilet campaign as council agrees renovation

After months of ill-tempered exchanges, a decision has been reached on the Diss town centre toilets – and they are staying open.

A deadlock over their future was finally broken this week when South Norfolk Council announced it will refurbish the Mere’s Mouth toilet block before handing it over to the town council to run and maintain.

Although it had previously told South Norfolk it could demolish the toilet block, the town council said it was delighted they would now be renovated and kept open.

“This is the outcome that we have been working to since 2015,” it declared.
