UPDATED: Road blocked at Wyverstone after head-on collision

A road is Wyverstone is blocked after two cars collided head-on this morning.

It happened on Rectory Road at about 8.45am, and involved a Mercedes C220 and a Hyundai i20.

Three fire crews, from Stowmarket, Elmswell and Ixworth, attended the scene with cutting equipment, after initial reports that people may have been trapped in their vehicles.

No casualties were trapped, and firefighters helped to provide first aid and scene safety.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust said: “Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer attended and treated two patients with an arm and a foot injury.

“Both were taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further care.”

Recovery services to remove the vehicles arrived in Wyverstone at 10.10am.

The road is currently blocked in both directions.
