UPDATE: Larling man charged after firearm scare resulted in A11 closure

A man has been charged with three different offences following an incident involving a firearm in Larling on Thursday, which resulted in the closure of part of the A11.

Paul Anthony John Smith, aged 48 and from Larling, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threats to kill and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Police temporarily shut the road between Snetterton and the A1075 at around 4.50pm on Thursday afternoon after being called out to a property in Larling at around 3pm, in order to ensure the safety of the public whilst the incident was dealt with.

Smith appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on Saturday, January 31 and has been remanded in custody, to next appear at Norwich Magistrates on Monday, February 16.
