East Anglian Air Ambulance pilot Steve Norris wins top award for second time
A former pilot with the East Anglian Air Ambulance has come out on top at a leading industry awards.
Captain Steve Norris, who stepped down from his role with the charity last year, was named Pilot of the Year for the second time at the Air Ambulances UK Awards of Excellence, having won the same accolade in 2016.
“I am truly humbled to have been recognised at this year’s awards,” said Captain Norris, who is the longest-serving pilot in the charity’s history.
“Although I recently retired from the role, I have flown approximately 3,800 helicopter emergency missions and it’s a privilege to have helped provide critical care to so many people.”
The judging panel recognised Captain Norris’ years of service and dedication to the charity, which provides advanced critical care 24/7 to seriously injured and unwell people in Norfolk and Suffolk.
He was presented with his award by Air Ambulances UK ambassador Charlotte Hawkins.
