TW Gaze hosts poultry auction




TW Gaze held a Christmas poultry show and sale yesterday evening with all lots finding new homes in readiness for Christmas Day.

A total of 242 birds including turkeys, chickens, ducks, geese and guinea fowl were sold amidst a packed saleroom.

Prior to the sale, the Christmas poultry sale which, this year, was judged by Freddie Jones.

Freddie, who trained at The Savoy, worked at Maxim’s in Paris and was Captain of the 1993/94 British Cooking Team, commended the high quality of the birds in this years sale, all of which were entered by local consigners.

He awarded the Supreme Champion bird to a 23lb 2oz turkey, entered by Mrs Hancy of White House Farm, Banham.

The bird was also the highest selling lot of the night, making £72 under the gavel of auctioneer Edward Smith.

Both vendors and purchasers went home happy.
