When Tess Bell bought a mobile photo booth last year, it was the beginning of an adventure from which she has not looked back.

For the 32-year-old, from Worlingworth, has not only built up a successful business, but is now becoming a regular at major events filmed for episodes of the hit TV series, The Only Way is Essex (Towie), as an extra.

Tess founded her business, Make a Memory Events, in July 2017, and started to get bookings to take her photo booth along to different events around the region.

“I had a bit of background knowledge as I had worked in weddings before, but I jumped straight in at the deep end,” said Tess.

It was only when Tess added a candy cart, a doughnut wall and a sweet ferris wheel to her range of offerings, that things took an unusual twist.

“I’d done a lot of marketing when I first set up and got a call from the producers of Towie,” she said.

“They were holding a royal wedding garden party in one of their episodes and asked if I would go along as they liked the doughnut wall.

“I was asked to help out at two further episodes in which they held events and take the ferris wheel and candy cart along, too. I even appeared in two episodes as an extra.

“It was all a bit surreal.”

Tess now has two regular staff who help out at events and has also invested in a sign-written van.

She is taking 40 to 50 bookings a year, with more Towie episodes to come.

“I’m a mum-of-two and always dreamed of owning my own business,” said Tess.

“It’s been a whirlwind, but worth every moment. I never thought I’d end up on TV.”
