Diss trio’s platform, CleverGoose, seeking to make HR simpler, smarter, smoother
While CJ Green will be the first to admit that human resources is not often considered the most exciting aspect of daily work life, her transformative platform has been lauded for making the process smoother, simpler and more intuitive.
“HR isn’t the most sexy subject in the world,” said Mrs Green. “But after we showed our platform to the judges, they said we had absolutely changed their minds about that.”
At the South Norfolk Business Awards in March, Mrs Green and fellow Diss resident Lisa Hamill stepped up to take their Business Innovation Award for their digital platform, CleverGoose.
Little more than three years earlier, the pair had envisioned a HR service that was more than simply a filing cabinet for a business.
Using their experience in leadership development, they wanted to create a seamless, easy-to-understand service for both employers and employees alike.
“A lot of HR is simply about storing information, instead of helping people actually do it,” said Mrs Green.
“When Lisa and I set the business up, we tried to imagine building a service that was really different – something intuitive and simple.”
From providing letter templates to letting managers know how and when to hold meetings, the service works as a guardian angel for business owners.
“We initially built it for SMEs,” added Mrs Green. “But we have found larger organisations really like the content, too.
“It’s even good for experienced managers who have gone through it, because they make the same mistakes, too.
“With most HR platforms, there’s nothing that tells you how to do things – it’s really human-level advice that helps people deal with all the gnarly stuff of running a business.”
In the three years since forming the company, the pair have taken on a third employee – another Diss resident, Jasmine Bannon – and together the trio manage a client list that includes the likes of Banham Zoo and dog food company Skinners.
