Trio celebrates 100 collective years of service at Steeles Law in Diss
A Diss law firm has honoured a trio of employees as they approach a collective milestone of 100 years of service to the company between them.
Long-serving Team Assistant Janet Calver is celebrating 45 years with Steeles Law Solictors today — and she will soon be followed by Janet Ransome, who reaches the 27-year mark on Sunday, September 4, and Associate Karen Bacon, who will clock 34 years of service on Tuesday, September 27.
Miss Calver started as Secretary in 1971, back when the company was based in Mount Street under the name of Lyus Burne Lyus, prior to its acquisition by Steele and Co in the mid-1980s.
“Although it may seem like a long time, it has flown by and in my time I have seen many changes not least the new office,” she said.
Mrs Ransome, who works as the post lady and office cleaner, said she had “fond memories” of the old Mount Street office, where the firm was based for decades before its recent relocation to St Nicholas Street.
“I really do enjoy my job - so much so that I have no plans for retirement,” she added.
Mrs Bacon, meanwhile, is qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive, which she achieved as she worked her way up to the positions of Associate and Head of Private Client department.
Stephen Drake, the Managing Director at Steeles Law, giving praise to the trio for their service, stated: “All three ladies really are an inspiration.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to both Janets and Karen for their long service, support and commitment to the firm.
“All three ladies have worked tirelessly for the firm and all make a very significant contribution to the day to day running of the office.
“The Diss office would not be the same without them and long may that continue.”
