Tributes paid to Redgrave collision victim Leonard Bates




Tributes have been paid to a 67-year-old man who died following a road traffic collision in Redgrave.

The collision occurred at around 9.40am on Friday, August 23 in Fen Street, between a cyclist and a tractor and trailer.

Leonard Bates, from the Ingham area, was the cyclist involved.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, but died the following day.

In a statement, Mr Bates’ family said: "Len Bates was tragically taken from us on the morning of August 24, having been involved in a collision the day before whilst enjoying one of his regular cycle rides.

"Len was very much loved by his wife Sue and his boys Andrew and Peter.

"He was friendly and outgoing, Len would help anyone who needed him and had a lot of time for his family and friends.

"He will be sorely missed by his family, his friends, and everyone that knew him.”
