Diss Litter Picking Group founder, George Waterman, thanks supporters at third anniversary

The founder of Diss Litter Picking Group has thanked supporters as it celebrated its third anniversary.

The group, which started in July 2021, met at Diss Youth and Community Centre on Saturday to mark the milestone.

George Waterman, originally from Pulham St Mary, moved to Diss that year and, as lockdown restrictions were being lifted, he wanted to do something to help the community.

The idea has flourished, with between 12 and 30 people meeting every second Saturday of the month to help.

The 27-year-old said: “I would like to say thank you to the volunteers that come out and to the individuals and businesses that have donated equipment to keep this going for three years.

“You are all helping to keep this town tidy and I do not have the words to thank you enough – it just blows me away.”
