Diss and District Royal British Legion branch wins prestigious award

Members and veterans of the Armed Forces have been celebrating after winning a prestigious award.

The Diss and District branch of the Royal British Legion was awarded the Addison-Williamson Award for progress and efficiency in 2024 at a county meeting of the charity at Norfolk County Hall in Norwich.

The branch was singled out for working closely with the town council on events, such as its carnival, hosting its own Armed Forces Day, its use of multimedia and how it collaborated with local newspapers and radio.

The award was accepted on behalf of the branch by committee members Mary Cotton and Robert Rogers.

“Members who I have spoken to have said how pleased they are that the branch has been recognised,” said Mr Rogers.

The branch was presented with a framed certificate and will feature in the next RBL magazine, which is distributed to 200,000 members across the globe.
