Diss historian launches fourth calendar in aid of the BIG C cancer charity
A historian has published his latest calendar, which features more than 50 historic images of Diss and surrounding villages.
Dennis Cross began the project in early summer and the calendar is now ready to buy in time for Christmas.
It's already being sent to townsfolks' relatives around the world from America to New Zealand.
All the pictures and postcards featured, which date from 1903 to 1960, are from Mr Cross’ personal collection.
It is the fourth calendar he has released and all proceeds from its sale will go towards the Big C cancer charity, based in Norwich.
“With the last three calendars, I’ve managed to raise £6,500 and I am hoping to top that up with this,” said Mr Cross, who lives in Diss.
“It’s packed with old pictures, and I’ve also included an extra month for January 2024.”
Memories of Diss and its Surrounding Villages, costs £10, is available from Photo Elite, Diss Garden Centre, Leslie Ward Gifts.
Pictures include Diss Secondary Modern for boys, The Eagle and Child pub, WJ Bullock rope and sack maker, railways station around the area, shop fronts, and Bumshis icecreams.
