Darts teams at The Cap in Harleston set to take on Macmillan Cancer Support 12-hour challenge

Darts players will go toe-to-toe when they attempt to complete a 12-hour non-stop challenge next week.

The A and B teams at The Cap in Harleston will take to the oche on Sunday, April 13, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The teams have already auctioned off two signed dartboards for the cause, while Ampersand brewery has let the team brew its own beer, called 180, for the challenge with money from every pint helping to swell the pot.

Alongside the 12-hour marathon, there will a host of competitions for visitors to take part in, including a 60-second challenge to hit as many bullseyes, and a highest score contest with six darts.

Mimicking Bullseye, the 1980s gameshow, there will also be a darts tombola, with a prize behind every number.

Organiser Vicki Hirst said the day had taken months to organise, with the aim to make it as much fun as possible for the whole community.

“We want there to be a fun, family atmosphere and really hope that people will come and support us,” she said. “It’s such a worthwhile cause.

“We will have things going on throughout the day, including children’s magnetic and velcro dartboards, an all-day raffle, games, a colouring-in competition and plenty of crafts.”

Adults will also be able to challenge any of the players for a chance to win prizes during three set intervals during the day.

The fundraiser will run at the pub in The Thoroughfare between 10am and 10p, with people invited to drop by at any point.
