Hus Estates joins up with Diss High School to fund its breakfast club
A businessman has agreed to fund a school initiative aimed at ensuring children receive the best start to a day.
Hus Estates, which opened on Market Hill in Diss in September, has joined forces with Diss High School to fund a breakfast club.
It means that any children who have not been able to eat breakfast at home – due to a lack of time or money – can have something when they get to the school in Walcot Road.
Business owner Stefan Dente said providing financial backing to the early morning initiative aligned with the company’s principles.
He said: “When we opened, our main goals were sustainability, by being a paperless office and using recycled goods, and wanting to be proactive when it came to helping the local community.
“When I saw the school had started a breakfast club, it was something I thought we could help with.”
With every sale, the estate agency offers clients the choice of planting ten trees on their behalf, receiving a sapling to plant themselves, or donating £150 to one of five community partners, which includes Diss High School.
“Helping the community is very close to our hearts,” said Mr Dente. “We feel helping with children’s nutrition is really important.”
Headteacher Sam Stopps said the funding would make a big difference to the school.
“We are so very grateful to Hus Estates,” he said. “This means students who want to top up their energy levels can have free toast or bagels before school starts.
“Even more generously, Stefan has also agreed to trial the funding of free fruit for students at break times and lunchtimes.”
