Attleborough among towns struck by tool thefts




Sixteen incidents of van break ins have been reported over a five day period, with tools having been stolen in 10 instances.

The thefts happened during the evenings and overnight between October 12 and October 16, involving locks on vans on private driveways being broken.

Eight of the incidents happened in the same town – with thieves striking in Hargham Road, Attleborough at around 4.15am on October 14, but leaving empty handed.

Another van was broken in to in Chapel Road, Attleborough between 8.30pm on October 13 and 4.30am on October 14, with tools and equipment stolen.

There were a further four incidents on Chapel Road, Attleborough between 2am-4am on October 14, with tools stolen from two vans.

Dodds Close, Attleborough was also targeted between 2am-4am on October 14, with tools and power tools were stolen.

Short Road in Attleborough was also struck between 3am-3.20am on October 14, with no tools stolen.

Thieves also targeted Earlham, Sprowston, Swaffham and Downham Market between October 12 and October 16.

Police are advising people to take sensible precautions if they keep vans on private driveways. Don’t leave tools or equipment in vans overnight and try to back vans up against walls or garages so thieves cannot access the rear doors.
