The Corn Hall in Diss calls for people to help with fire evacuation exercise

The Corn Hall in Diss is asking people to help it perform a full evacuation of the building.

The St Nicholas Street venue wants people to join it on Tuesday, March 4, at 6pm, to test its fire drill.

Sophie Scott, marketing support for The Corn Hall, said it was important to perform a live test with as many people as possible.

She said: “As the professional arts and theatre venue for Diss, the health and safety of our audiences, volunteers and staff is of the utmost importance to us.

“So we regularly review and test our procedures to ensure best practice.

“We have the fire evacuation training booked for our duty managers, stewards and staff and we need a real live audience to practice with.

“The practice should take no longer than 30 minutes and simply involves sitting as an audience in our auditorium and following instructions given by our team once the fire alarm goes off.

“We would love to fill the auditorium to its maximum capacity, so if anyone could spare 30 minutes to help us out, that would be great,” she added.
