Thieves break into lorry and make off with six pallets - of wet wipes

Police are appealing for witnesses after criminals made a clean getaway with a quantity of anti-bacterial wipes last week.

A lorry driver was parked up on the A14 westbound prior to junction 51 in Creeting St Mary in the early hours of the morning last Friday, when he was approached by a group, who told him to stay inside his cab before they proceeded to slash the curtain of the 40-foot trailer and offloaded around six pallets of Detox Green anti-bacterial wipes.

It is unclear whether or not the offenders had prior knowledge of the contents of the truck before deciding to break into it, or what they intend to do with the anti-bacterial wipes.

Despite anti-bacterial goods being in short supply at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, stock levels have returned back to normal in most UK supermarkets.

Suffolk Constabulary is now asking anyone with any information to come forward by contacting 101, quoting crime reference number 37/30942/20.
