Thorpe Abbots, Tibenham, Bressingham and Fersfield projects among those to benefit from a share of £150,000
A DJ deck and booth as well as a village hall’s play equipment are among some community projects that are set to benefit from a share of £150,000 from South Norfolk Council.
The authority’s panel for its Community Action Fund (CAF) selected 16 projects to have a share of the money at the end of last month.
The annual funding initiative sees councillors consider applications from organisations ranging between £1,000 and £20,000.
Cllr Kim Carsok, the chairwoman of the panel, said: “There is a real energy and desire from volunteers and community groups in South Norfolk to develop, improve and upgrade local facilities, which will have a direct impact on our residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.
“I am pleased we can support so many projects and look forward to working alongside our volunteers to make South Norfolk an even better place to live.”
One of the projects that did see funding approved by the council panel was Thorpe Abbots Village Hall.
The hall committee was awarded £7,400 to help improve accessibility and safety at The Street site whilst using the funds to take steps to reduce running costs.
Tibenham Community Hall will use £3,384 from the fund to purchase a DJ deck and build a collapsible DJ booth to provide events and offer skill development opportunities to young people.
Elsewhere, Bressingham and Fersfield Community Hall and Recreation Ground was also awarded £5,776 from the council to help in its fundraising to purchase new play equipment.
Cllr Carsok said there had been many applications for the funding.
“Sadly we could not fund all the applications, but our communities team will support unsuccessful applicants in sourcing other funding routes,” she added.
Applications for the CAF are now closed and will reopen in April 2025.
