Teenager bailed after being arrested by police in Diss on suspicion of eight offences
A teenager has been released on bail after being arrested in Diss on Monday on suspicion of eight offences.
A post on South Norfolk Police’s Facebook page said an officer was driving down Victoria Road when a vehicle started making erratic movements to avoid being spotted.
He observed two people abandoned the car at the bottom of a cul-de-sac, before running off.
After they were shortly caught by officers, a check was done on the vehicle, which found it was connected to an ongoing investigation of bilking – which is obtaining or keeping money from someone unfairly or deceitfully - which happened last month.
The car was seized, with a man in his late teens arrested on suspicion of driving off from petrol stations without paying, having no insurance and no licence. He was taken to Wymondham PIC for questioning.
The man was further arrested on suspicion of five other offences: taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent, public order, common assault, criminal damage, and theft.
He was later released on bail.
