The Heywood road in Diss blocked all day after tanker topples in to ditch

The Heywood in Diss has been blocked for around 12 hours after a tanker on a narrow country lane toppled in to a ditch.

The Abbey Logistics tanker laid on its side at the edge of the road for much of the day, with its load being transported in to another tanker to reduce the weight before machinery and a crane were brought in to try to pull the vehicle upright.

It is not known how the tanker came to be on its side in the ditch, but reports from members of the public suggest the incident took place at around 6am this morning.

Norfolk Police were not called to the scene, with no official road closure being put in place.
