Aspall Cyder House to benefit from £10m investment
The owners of Aspall Cyder House are set to invest £10 million into the business over the next five years.
Molson Coors, a multi-national drinks and brewing company headquartered in Chicago, announced the investment into the Debenham site as part of a wider £100 million project across its entire UK brewery and beverage network.
The financial boost, together with infrastructure upgrades, will introduce greater efficiencies in the likes of production and packaging.
Damian Mills, head of supply chain at Aspall Cyder, said: “This plan is an important investment in the future of Aspall Cyder House to help us meet demand for our ciders and vinegars, while making strong progress against our sustainability targets.
“Our products have been made at Aspall Cyder House since 1728 and we are committed to keeping it at the heart of our business for many years to come.
“Molson Coors’ latest investment will ensure we can continue to grow the brand, while protecting the site’s heritage and continuing our commitment to the very highest quality.”
Founded in 1728, Clement Chevallier began by planting apple trees while all around him were growing cereals. Three-hundred years on and the company still produces cyder and cyder vinegars at the original site.
This new investment follows on from a £13 million injection to increase capacity at the Suffolk base in 2022.
Patrick Spencer, MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, added: “Aspall Cyder House is a vital part of our local heritage, and this new investment will ensure its continued prominence for years to come. It fills me with pride to see such renowned brands being produced right here in our region.”
Aspall, which employs more than 130 people, creates all of its products using 100 per cent renewable electricity.
Molson Coors, which also owns Carling, Cobra and Doom Bar, hopes to achieve net-zero emissions across all of its sites by 2035.
