Suffolk County Councillor for Eye Guy McGregor believes “the interest of residents were presented properly” in the wake of a £200 million gas-fired power station being given the green light last month.

He added his intention for the £300,000 community fund, should the project go ahead, would be used exclusively for local projects, determined by local people.

Mr McGregor said: “Prior to the Public Enquiry Suffolk County Council had shaped the Planning Application by reducing the chimney height, ensuring that the connection with National Grid would be underground, and ensuring that the operation would not rely upon water being transported by water tankers along the A140.

“I maintain that Suffolk County Council ensured that the interests of residents were presented properly, that benefits were secured and I now express my thanks to the officers of Suffolk County Council for the professional manner in which the case was presented.”
