Suffolk County Council on the hunt for active communities as competition launches

Suffolk County Council is on the hunt for the county’s most active communities.

The competition will seek out the most active town, small village and large village in Suffolk in 2015.

Then at a special presentation event in March, the winner in each category will receive an engraved plaque as a permanent recognition of their achievements.

Runners up in 2013 include Eye and Worlingworth, while last year Mendham narrowly missed out.

Councillor Tony Goldson, Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, said: “The competition will give people the chance to celebrate the work taking place in so many communities.

“There are a lot of inspired initiatives and groups getting people active in Suffolk.

“Encouraging and supporting people to live active lifestyles in their community is incredibly important because it keeps them healthy and independent in the short and long term.

“These awards are about recognising the fantastic work of communities right across Suffolk so I would urge people to send in their applications to the Most Active County team.”

Anyone in the community can enter online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/MACTV2015 or via telephone on 01473 260722 to request a paper application form.

The deadline for applications is February 6, 2016.
