Framlingham’s Double Street Advent window displays are the talk of the town
An ongoing annual Christmas window display has been described as the biggest and best yet.
Residents of Double Street in Framlingham have been busy brightening up their window spaces with some creative crackers.
Based around an advent calendar, one window is being revealed each day in the run-up to Christmas.
Organiser Gill Knights said: “We had so many people wanting to take part this year. Not only do we have one a day, but we also have others who will reveal their windows when they are ready.
“Having this many windows makes it our biggest year yet, so there will be some Christmas surprises for visitors as well.”
Last year, the event raised around £1,500 for charities.
“We normally have two charities – one local and one international – so this year it will be Framlingham First Responders and Médecins Sans Frontières,” said Mrs Knights
“For us, it is more of a feel-good factor than a money raiser, though being able to help charities is lovely, too.”
The popular event has been attracting hundreds of visitors, not just from the town but further afield.
“The displays are so impressive this year, as they are every year, with people putting so much effort into them,” said Mrs Knights.
“We have quite a lot of people moving in and out of the street over the years and, when new people arrive, they get involved as well, which is great.
“I would like to say thank you to everyone involved, as it is such a commitment, and to those that come and donate. We hope to carry on for many years to come.”
