Stradbroke Library manager 'blown away' by celebratory artwork

A piece of artwork is to be displayed at Stradbroke Library to celebrate Suffolk Libraries Day.

The three-panelled piece of work – conceived by artists Hannah Weeks, Christine Cooper and Kay Edwards – represents the community café, library and post office which are housed in the former courthouse building in Queens Street.

Library manager Maureen John said: “I wanted to do something for the day and, though it was my idea, what the three of them have done has absolutely blown me away.”

The library is offering people the chance to sponsor the artwork and have their names put on it, for a donation of £5 for adults and £2 for children.

Maureen said: “Denise Clark and Mitzi Newall-Wright will be putting those on and we already have 80-plus names on our list, all wanting to be a part of Stradbroke history.”

The panels will be on display on Saturday, October 12.
