South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss is the latest politician from our area to back Boris Johnson’s bid to become Prime Minister.
The Secretary for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, who campaigned for Britain to stay in the EU, said in a column for The Telegraph yesterday that “we should be optimistic about the potential of our country.”
“This leadership must now come from someone who believes in, and campaigned for, leaving the EU,” she said. “The British people must be able to trust the new prime minister to deliver the instruction they have given.
“I believe he can bring the country back together and lead a programme of domestic reform and renewal.”
Earlier this week, Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP Dr Dan Poulter said he would be backing Johnson. David Cameron announced he would be stepping down by the Autumn.
