Diss PureGym gets off to flying start after opening in Victoria Road
Staff at a new gym say the venue has got off to a flying start.
PureGym opened on Friday in Victoria Road and aims to be a true community facility, boosting fitness, mental health and wellbeing through exercise.
Elliot Townsend, assistant general manager, said: “Despite opening on Friday the 13th, the scariest day, we are pleased to say its all going well.
“PureGym is a large company with nearly 400 gyms around the country but each one aims to become part of the community, as we do here in Diss. We have a wide range of membersand it already has a real community feel.”
The gym has an opening offer for standard membership of £20.99 per month for the first three months, with a £15 joining fee.
The brand already runs more than 410 clubs across the country, including three in Norwich and one in Great Yarmouth. They are open 24 hours a day.
The gym features the latest equipment including free weights, a cardio section, power rails, deadlift platforms and resistance machines. It also has two personal trainers for one-to-one training and classes.
Diss Gym staff have also involved themselves in the community raising money for Marie Curie and The Shelf Food Hub at Diss Citizens advice,
Personal trainer, Ruby Mouser, said: “Our demographic is between 16 and 70, with most in their mid twenties, We have lots of regulars and we’d love people to come and see our facilities and join our community.”
Some town residents have recently questioned the number of gyms in the town with the plans for a new leisure centre at the former John Grose site, in Park Road.
Elliot said: “Health and fitness, including mental health is so important these days and I think it is a good thing.
“We are right on people’s doorstep making it easy for people to look after themselves.
“So far we are pleased and membership is growing, too. PureGym is for everyone and we look forward to meeting new members soon.”
