Diss and District Rotary club funds third fire engine for Ukraine with Bressingham Steam Museum fundraiser
Efforts to donate a number of fire engines to Ukraine moved a step closer at the weekend.
Diss and District Rotary Club has been raising funds to send three fire engines to the eastern European country – home to the deadliest war on European soil in more than 70 years.
On Saturday, members continued their bid by letting visitors to Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens see inside one of the vehicles.
Rotarian Mark Chamley said: “We collected just over £407, which, when added to gift aid, online and other donations, means we now have a total of around £5,250.
“The generosity of the people of Diss and the surrounding area has been enormous. The willingness of everyone to help provide tangible aid to the people in Ukraine has ensured these fire engines will get to where they are needed.”
The first two engines are set to leave Norfolk tomorrow, with the third making the journey across Europe in June.
