Victoria Road, Diss to undergo drainage works on Monday

Work to tackle a long-running surface water flooding problem on the A1066 in Diss is set to start on Monday.

The county council will be carrying out drainage improvement works opposite the A1066 Victoria Road junction with U71521 Sawmills Road for approximately 7 weeks until Monday 27 February.

The improvement works will see a brand-new drainage system built into the side of the road with kerb drains put in place to help take surface water swiftly away from the road and into the new system. As part of this work the pavement next to the new kerb drains will also be resurfaced.

Considerable efforts are being made to help minimise any disruption to traffic on this key route. As one lane of the road, and the cycle lane, will need to be closed while work is underway, temporary traffic lights will be in place to ensure traffic can move safely past the essential works.

The temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled each day, to allow traffic to flow as smoothly as possible. The temporary lights will only be automatically controlled overnight.

Access to properties will be maintained throughout, although there may be some short delays at times when work is taking place in front of driveways.

The work, with an anticipated cost of £150,000, will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community & Environmental Services Department and their contractors.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this essential drainage improvement work is carried out.
