Roadworks have started in Victoria Road in Diss and are scheduled to last until Tuesday.

This time, Anglian Water is carrying out work, which involves two-way traffic lights to enable the relining of 425metres of existing underground pipes.

The tailbacks, which brought constant frustration throughout 2018, and now to the start of this year, prompted one reader from Stradbroke to write to the Diss Express this week, to say: “I would just like to add my dismay at the ongoing issues at Victoria Road in Diss.

"These, as you know have been going on for sometime now and my queuing yesterday was the final straw for me and my wife.

"We live in Stradbroke and visit Diss once a week to do our shop. We use Aldi and Tesco and are very happy with the service and products we receive from these two retailers but we have decided now to shop on line and we will be using Asda as they offer the closest match to our shopping requirements.

"We are not in the first flush of life and feel that is a backward step but the frustration of sitting waiting in Victoria Road is now too much as it seems never ending. I have pointed out previously that planning is the main issue with all three major retailers sitting on that road.

"I am sorry to say we will be one more reason the high street is dying and online sales are taking over."

Next week we will be picking up with our Fair Deal for Diss campaign.

It's about time, isnt it?
