Retro cars set to impress as Diss Heritage Triangle’s Transport Fayre returns

Vehicles of all shapes and sizes are set to roll into Diss tomorrow for a fayre that has been on hold for two years.

The return of the Diss Heritage Triangle’s Transport Fayre will see around 100 vehicles, ranging from the 1920s to the 1990s, displayed all over the town, as well as a pop-up 1950s filling station.

The event, which was the idea of Peter Hyde, a trustee of the Diss Heritage Triangle Trust, started in 2015 as a way to promote the heritage project, before officially becoming the transport fayre a year later.

Co-organiser Ray Bryant said: “We are all very pleased and excited that we can bring the event back to Diss.

“This is a full-on family event, not just for petrol heads, but for everyone wanting a great day out.

“With music, face painting, food stalls and a barbecue, as well as the vehicles, we are bringing the fayre back better than ever.”

The main bulk of vehicles will be in the Market Place, but there will also be displays at the Corn Hall, Cobbs Yard, Norfolk House Yard, The Greyhound pub, The Saracen’s Head and around 30 motorbikes at the Buttermarket.

Mr Bryant said: “I always think that is great when this sort of thing happens, rather like the organ festival, and the whole town gets involved.”

The fayre will also be giving prizes to the best car and the best dressed vintage costume, both of which are open to the public as well as the vehicle’s drivers, and a grand raffle, with prizes supplied by business owners in the town.

The Diss Heritage Triangle’s Transport Fayre will be on tomorrow, between 10am and 4pm.
