Repairs to a gas leak on A1066 Park Road, Diss - near the Aldi store - proving ‘complex’, say engineers
Repairs to a gas leak on a town centre road are proving ‘complex’, according to enginners.
The issue was reported for the A1066 Park Road in Diss - near the Aldi store - at 4.45pm, last Thursday.
Work to repair the leak has involved multi-way traffic signals, with traffic delays reported in the area.
Dan Sillett, customer operations area manager at Cadent, said: “We were called to Park Road, Diss, last Thursday afternoon following reports of a smell of gas.
“Cadent engineers took immediate action and have been working with specialist equipment to pinpoint the source of the escape within the local network so that the appropriate repair can be carried out.
“This escape has proven to be a complex one which requires numerous repairs which are being carried out.
“We have had to install traffic management to ensure that our engineers can work safely.
“All traffic management has been agreed with the local Highways Authority who are being kept informed of our progress throughout.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work as safely and as efficiently as we can to get this resolved as soon as possible.
“If you smell gas, please act immediately and call the gas emergency service on 0800 111 999.
“Please do not assume it is related to this. It may not be and needs to be checked out.”
The spokesman said engineers were working to fix the leak ‘as soon as possible’
