One of region’s premier removal companies is celebrating 25 years in business.

Hamiltons Removals, based in Harleston, cut a cake to mark the success of what has been truly a family affair.

The business has seen many changes since it started on November 30, 1993.

After launching from a rural warehouse in Braiseworth in 2005, Hamiltons relocated to an industrial estate in Harleston from which it still operates.

In 2012, the need for additional warehouse and storage space saw the company buy another 25 units and 6.5 acres of land on an industrial estate in Aldeby.

Brian Sawyer is at the helm along with his two sons, Michael and Nick, their wives, Jean, Mandy and Chi, while Michael’s son, Sam, also helps out.

Managing director Michael puts their success down to team effort.

“Every member of staff at Hamiltons is a valued member of the team,” he said.

“Everyone brings their own expertise to their role and all come together to help to create the successful business it has become today.”

To top off the celebrations, Hamiltons took delivery of a new lorry earlier this year with a specially commissioned livery to mark its 25 years in the industry.

European moves play a big part in the business, with weekly trips undertaken in Hamiltons’ five road trains to France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and further afield.

The company has grown from an original staff of five, which still includes co-founder Paul Walsh, to 54, and now has an annual turnover of £4.3 million.

Staff training has been key to the companies ongoing success.
