Redwings cat Thomas became a charity icon

There has been sadness at the Redwings equine charity after a cat which had become something of a icon had to be put to sleep.
Thomas the cat lived at the charity’s Hapton headquarters from 2001, shortly after the charity’s arrival at the new base.
He had developed arthritis and had some problems with his kidneys and when his condition began to deteriorate the decision was made to put him to sleep to ensure he did not suffer.
Thomas began visiting the site from a nearby home. After his owner collected him from Redwings for the “umpteenth” time, they decided it would the easier if he stayed.
